If you want to write or port your own xhost, be aware that the VMS server only accepts the undocumented FamilyGeneric host specification. Someone at DEC apparently felt that the VMS community would find the FamilyDECnet host specification too insecure and made a new Family type. FamilyGeneric lets you specify remote DECnet access on a per-user basis. David L.
