Keywords: Fonts, fixed, variable Message-ID: <1991Jun14.034129.17224@monu6.cc.monash.edu.au> Date: 14 Jun 91 03:41:29 GMT Organization: Caulfield Campus, Monash University, Melb., Australia. Lines: 22 Dear Netters, I'm quite new to the X window interface and I was wondering if anyone can help me solve my problem. The problem is with choosing the right font to put onto the screen. I am aware that fonts have fixed or variable widths. How do I know which fonts to choose so that it is readable? By trial and error, I am only able to use these 4 fonts: 1. xterm -fn "-b&h-*-bold-r-*-140-*-90-*" 2. xterm -fn "-b&h-*-medium-r-*-140-*-90-*" 3. xterm -fn "courier-bold-r-*140*" 4. xterm -fn "courier-medium-r-*140*" by invoking it on the command-line. Am I right to say that these fonts have a fixed width ? I wish to display other fonts on my xterm window, hopefully some fancier ones that are more pleasing to the eye. Can someone shed a light on what is happening? Thank You in anticipation for your replies. rthien@monu6.cc.monash.edu.au
