Message-ID: <9106141435.AA03748@expo.lcs.mit.edu> Date: 14 Jun 91 14:02:00 GMT Sender: daemon@athena.mit.edu (Mr Background) Organization: The Internet Lines: 26 Hello, Could someone please tell me if such a product exists. I am looking for a run-time Motif to ASCII converter. I believe that this product would act like an X-Server for the X-Client but would translate the display to ASCII so-that it could be displayed on a dump ASCII terminal. The user would get this functionality by setting his/her display argument to the Motif->ASCII converter when invoking the Motif based application. The converter would then display the ASCII equivalent of the Motif screen in ASCII on the user's terminal. I realize that not all X11 elements could be mapped but at least the major constructs of Motif (Pushbuttons, Labels, Text, PulldownMenus) would be nice to have. The reason for such a request is that I have several simple Motif application I wish to develop but these application must be accessible to ASCII based terminals. I also realize that several virtual-toolkit products on the market will allow for this functionality when building a tool but I would like to build applications independent of a vendors toolkit and have this Motif->ASCII conversion for applications that I do not build. Is this type of product available or even possible? Thanks Scott Buchanan
