The latest version of TheNews is available from the info-mac archive at
sumex-aim.stanford.edu, as

info-mac/comm/thenews-202.hqx

You need a fairly fast NNTP server to provide reasonable response. It runs fine
using our Sun Sparcserver 2 as a server, but runs like a dog if I use our VAX
6340 (which is heavily loaded).

The Hypercard News readers are really slow and I wouldn't recommend them.
