Berkeley -- ERL Lines: 13 Approved: gun-control@cs.umd.edu I am soliciting advice on a sidearm selection. I am wanting to buy a sidearm for the field when hunting, camping or backpacking. I have a Dan Wesson .357 and a Berreta 9MM but, niether of these are what I consider an appropriate field gun. I have decided on a .44 Magnum and now need to select a brand. I may end up doing some pig hunting with this gun so as usual with any gun, I will be looking for reliability and good quality. I like the looks of the Ruger Blackhawk and other "old west" type revolvers. I would appreciate any advice on which brand .44 Mag that fits the above description would be the best choice. Thanks much!
