I just got my A license and I want to get my own gear. I can't really afford brand new equipment, so I'm hoping that I could get some second hand equip from one of the experienced divers at my DZ who's looking to get new gear. What should I look for? Are there some things that I should watch out for? What sort of questions should I be asking to discern a good deal from a bad one? There is a person at my DZ selling a PD 190/Phantom 24/Vector combination. She let me jump it and I really liked it - but it's the first non-student gear that I've ever jumped and I haven't got a clue how to look at this thing critically. The main has 400+ jumps on it and the reserve has never been used. The rig looks pretty clean. What would you pay for this thing? Where would you look for signs of wear? I appreciate any help that anyone can offer. Thanks and may your weekends be filled with blue skies! - sparkie -- sparkie@picard.cs.wisc.edu (Mark Horn) Skydive Seven Hills - Madison, WI
