Flinn, the computer graphics animator (and all-around great guy) at the California Institute of Technology has been awarded a MacArthur grant of $265,000. If you are not familiar with the MacArthur grants, they are awarded "out of the blue." There is no application process; instead, the organization has a staff which quietly "finds" people they believe are deserving. There are no restrictions on what awardees may do with the money. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Randy Pausch (Pausch@Virginia.Edu) 804-982-2211 FAX: (804) 982-2214 Assistant Professor, Computer Science Department, Thornton Hall, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA 22903-2442 --------------------------------------------------------------------
