Message-ID: <35150001@hp-vcd.HP.COM> Date: 18 Jun 91 19:25:04 GMT Organization: Hewlett Packard Vancouver Division Lines: 21 Be forewarned, this is a pragmatic question... We have numerous software applications which take input from production line operators in some form. The applications then give back feedback to the operator, something indicating input received, validated and ok, validated and not ok, etc. We have various generations of user interfaces, some running on color graphics terminals, some on X terminals, some on dumb mono-color terminals. We have all kinds of feedback from changing-color blocks to audio (beeps) to text. Does anyone have any researched info about the simplest and easiest-to- understand feedback for these types of applications? We'd like to somewhat standardize our UI. Thanks, --Joan
