Summary: request for comparison of books Keywords: C++ books, Message-ID: <466@daily-planet.concordia.ca> Date: 14 Jun 91 02:02:04 GMT Sender: usenet@daily-planet.concordia.ca Distribution: usa Organization: Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec Lines: 24 Could someone who is familiar with both the "C++ Primer" by Lippman and "The Annotated Reference Manual" by Ellis + Stroustrup please inform me as to whether it is worth purchasing the latter if one already owns the former. I don't require long comparisons, I would be content with a yes or no answer and a short reason if you feel like it. Since it's probably relevant, I'm a fairly good C programmer, recently moved to C++. Before I buy the book (I have to order it), I'd like to know if the books are sufficiently different to warrant the purchase. I realize that "sufficiently different" is a subjective term, I'll just take your word for it, whatever interpretation you decide to give. Please email responses to me as I doubt YES/NO answers merit world-wide distribution. I'll post the results after a few days if anyone asks. -- rick clark (rclark@concour.cs.concordia.ca) Concordia University, Montreal.
