Lines: 15 DOS 5.0 advertises that it is particularly useful with Windows 3.0. I've had no problem with the combination. I've tried both the windows and non-windows versions of kermit, and a couple of other DOS applications, but certainly have not made an exhaustive test. The only thing I found different between DOS 3.2 and 5.0 was that suddenly the setup I was using for QEMM386 (the memory manager supplied with Desqview 386) causes Windows 3.0 to bomb. For some reason (lost in the dim reaches of history) I was invoking qemm with the arguments "ram rom ext=1500". Removing the ext=1500 makes Windows 3.0 work correctly. Running the version of himem.sys that came with windows 3.0 before qemm also made the problem go away (but not the version of himem.sys that came with DOS 5.0), though that's not a very good approach. I had no problems with Windows 3.0 when using the software recommended by Microsoft, which is the himem.sys and emm386.exe that came with DOS 5.0.
