Its so obvious that I had missed it till one of those `oh of course' moments
some of you may benefit as well:

Using Quipu with a Multi-homed host, or a host that for some reason is
pretending to be in multiple communities, it is useful to use 

listenaddress= Internet=0.0.0.0+17003
or
listenaddress= Private-tcp=0.0.0.0+17003

rather than bind to each interface seperately

Perhaps iaed could use listenaddress as well?
