To Peter: You are stating that doubleclick is a loss of the original idea of drag-and-drop. I am of the oppinion tha this was an elegant NEW approach of 'how to start an application' and the pull-down menu was a so _good_ approach, that almost evry new computer implements it. (Never heard of PopUpMenu for pop-up meuns on the WB) To Marc: I will summarize the basic ideas of Drag-and-drop: The idea of the icons and workbench is replacing the 'desk you are working on': On the desk you can pick whatever is there and start working. You _see_ a sheet of paper and you can use it for writing, painting, etc.. In real life if you wish to write a letter you just pick the paper and drop it in the printer, or take your favorite cd and put it in the drive, etc.. Now immagine a situation where you see an icon of a document and you start editing it. After you did this you spot another icon (with another document) on your open drawer and you wish to work on it. Usually you get your file requester, get a list of 'strange' names and wonder where the document is you just saw. Wouldn't it be nice you could drop it directly on your application (open or closed). The point is: why have to change your taughts finding out where the file is, if you just have it under your nose? No, if you can drag an icon and drop it on another icon you think is appropriate is the really big improvement. To both: As for the strting an application, you have now two ways - doubleclick on your project - shift click on the project and your application With drag-and-drop you have a new method - drag your project on your application Free choise for evrybody... >>Peter da Silva. `-_-' . > / Marc Barrett -MB- | BITNET: XGR39@ISUVAX.BITNET / Bye Matija +-------------------------------------------------------+ | Q: What's the best way to catch a rabbit? | | A: Hide into a bush and mimic the voice of a carrot. | +-------------------------------------------------------+
