Yes, the Mac has a reputation for a good GUI NOW, so why are you bringing up past versions of the OS? Please. (Hey, let's compare the A3000 to the 128K Mac. Aren't they lame?). As far as the present goes, the GUI is essentially 8-bit. That is, individual icons, small icons, scroll bars, etc, can each have 256 colors. BTW, the original Mac had the capability to display 8 colors, which is twice as many as you state above!
