Keywords: CBM Message-ID: <1991Jun20.195258.3126@mack.uit.no> Date: 20 Jun 91 19:52:58 GMT Sender: news@mack.uit.no (USENET News System) Reply-To: roy_even@hannibal.hsn.no (Roy Even Slettvik) Organization: Nordland University Centre, Norway Lines: 50 I think the Amiga computers are *great*, and now I want to get some information about Commodore Business Machines International (CBMI) and the national sections (TNS) like CCN (Commodore Computers Norway). I want to know how the company has developed, where it stands today, and where it might go in the future. Here is a list of the things I would like to get some information about: - Who ownes CBMI and TNS (companies and private shareholders?) - Info about the company which manufactures the chips CBMI uses in their computers. (It is named Commodore Semiconductor Group). - Which companies are owned by CBMI and TNS? - Which companies does CBMI and TNS co-operate with? - Number om employees in total and in each national section. - How many employees works with the Amiga? - marketshares at international and national levels. - CATS. - How the share prices has developed since CBM was established. - Other economic information, annual accounting, annual reports etc. - How CBMI and daughtercompanies are organized. Names, location, functions, departments etc. - I've read that 6 marketing gurus were employed by CBM to work in Commodore Marketing International. This company was established in 1989 after plans made by Peter Bayley (the manager of CMI) and Irving Gould. CMI is situated in Hammersmith, London, and it's a marketing centre which should strengthen the weak points in CBM's marketing strategy. Does anyone have any information about this department and what they have done? - Dates for the release of CBM's products. - Salesfigures from around the world. - How many products have been sold? Computers, HDs, genlocks, accelerators etc. - I've read that 55% of CBM's income comes from the Amiga section! How many percent of the Amiga-income are made up by A2000, A-this and A-that? - How many CBM64s and A500, A1000, -> A3000T have been sold? - When were the 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 million marks for Amigasales passed? - When will the 2.5 and 3 million mark be passed :-)? - How is the worldwide distribution of the installed base of Amigas? I know the figures for three big countries: USA abt. 400 000 macines, England 250 000+, Germany 300 000. - Which equipment does the average and majority of amiga-users own, and what are the systems used for? - I would like to read some books, reports and researches from CBM or others that can answer these questions and give me some information about CBM, their products, their market, their strategy, etc. - Is it possible to get a copy of market analysis and organization analysis CBM has made for themselves? - The history of the company, when it was established, by whom, what they produced before computers (calculators and typewriters?), etc. - I would also like to get some more information about the amiga's father Jay Miner, the company Amiga Inc. and the first version of the Amiga (It had another name which I don't remember now. Brain overflow error :-). I know that much of this information can be confidential and difficult/impossible to spread to the public. I don't believe that a single person out there in Netland has got the answers to all the questions, but I'd be glad to get a survey of what information and sources that are available. Please state any references, addresses and prices you might have on books and other sources. As I'll be going for a holiday in some days, I'll be glad if a copy of the answer sent to this group could be e-mailed to me.
