Since the Northgate Omnikey is now available with an Amiga switch on it, 
(albeit one for the 2000 plug config), it'd probably be easier for you to 
buy that and just convert the plug output to fit the A1000.  And you'd get a 
hell of a keyboard.  This is the solution that I'm contemplating for myself.
 
Anyone out there know the difference between the A2000 kb modular plug 
config and the that of the A1000?
