Upgrade from a IIe to ehnanced IIe requirs mere replacement of several chips -- character generator ROM (for mouse text), CD, EF ROM (for new 80-column text firmware; old version contains some annoying bugs) and a new CPU (65C02). But if you're talking about from a Rev.A board, that's a whole different ball game... (sort of) Interesting thing about the enhancement upgrade -- The 'enhancement kit' I purchased through mail order did not contain REAL Apple ROM chips! (well, they certainly did not carry proper copyright stickers), although they are functionally identical to the real thing.
