Deichman) Newsgroups: comp.sys.mac.games Subject: Message for John Calhoun on Pararena Message-ID: <3140@cod.NOSC.MIL> Date: 19 Jun 91 04:47:33 GMT Distribution: usa Organization: Naval Ocean Systems Center, San Diego Lines: 39 ------- john - think i've found some sort of bug in Heavy Otto's algorithm on Pararena 1.3. whenever i hit him at high speed (as when i'm bouncing back and forth between him and his goal while he tries to score) sometimes we "trade places," sending me at my same high speed out of the arena and him casually going for the lay-up... also, there have been a few times when i've hit Otto from behind (i.e., going the same direction as him) and i bounce back and fly out of the arena. while the first point could be construed as a "throw" by Otto-san (as if he isn't tough enough WITHOUT the martial arts! :-), the second issue violates all known laws of causality (especially the "conservation" theorems: momentum, gravitational potential energy, sanity, etc.) what gives? is this they way you did it (so nobody could beat Otto all the time?)... talk to me... regards, shane p.s. Sorry I didn't send this directly -- mail bounced from UKansas... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ | deichman@cod.nosc.mil | "There's no heavier burden than a | | | great potential!" -Linus Van Pelt | ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ------- -- ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ | deichman@cod.nosc.mil | "There's no heavier burden than a | | | great potential!" -Linus Van Pelt | ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
