Subject: FDHD External Drive

I just received an apple external FDHD which I ordered at the same
time i ordered a board upgrade for my SE.  The board upgrade has
yet to arrive.  can I just plug this fdhd into my regular se's
external floppy port and read and write 800k disks while i'm
waiting for the board to come or is this unwise?
