Message-ID: <1460@cameron.egr.duke.edu> Date: 17 Jun 91 19:11:50 GMT Sender: news@egr.duke.edu Distribution: usa Organization: Duke University EE Dept.; Durham, NC Lines: 23 OK quick question for this setup: Mac IIsi, 5M RAM, Quantum running Silverlining5.31 w/Sys6.0.7 partition and sys7.0 partition. I have been using Silverlining 5.27 for about a month, frequently switching between System 7 and System 6 using the volumes DA. (I have been running system 7 in 24 bit mode). In my excitement at getting Silverlining 5.31, I tried running System 7.0 in 32 bit mode. I didn't notice much difference, but it seemed to work OK. Next, I use switcher so that the sys7 partition will not mount and I select the sys6 partition and reboot. I get a dialog saying "This system is setup for 32 bit. Proceed in 24 bit or reboot?" So, how does it know it is in 32 bit mode? I thought it had to do with the system you are running. Would sys 6 still see the 32 bit mode if I did a hard reboot (power off, then on.) Will I have to reset 32 bit mode every time I use my System 7 partition? (It reverted to 24 bit after I selectec proceed in 24 bit mode.) Thanks for any hints. P.S. I am making a list of Macintosh cookies (Pictures in ROM, etc.) Would anyone like me to post it? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- J. D.
