You could set up two separate "printers" (eg "NEC-lower" and "NEC-upper"), and massage the postscript on the UNIX machine to get the proper tray to be used. (CAP is UNIX software for printing to/from appletalk networks, and filesharing, and some other stuff. It's free, but moves around. If you ftp to cunixc.cc.columbia.edu, you'll get a pointer to the current site.
