Sys 6 no longer bootable. Help! Message-ID: Date: 20 Jun 91 14:48:10 GMT Sender: news@cadillac.CAD.MCC.COM Distribution: comp Organization: MCC CAD Program, Austin, Texas Lines: 28 In upgrading my vanilla Mac II (no PMMU, 5M) to System 7, I created 3 SilverLining partitions on my hard drive: a minimal System 6 partition (from which I restored my backed-up System 6 partition), a restored System 6 partition, and a System 7 partition. Things have been running quite smoothly (i.e., I can boot my system from *any* of the partitions). However, just recently, I can no longer boot my system from the restored System 6 partition. When attempting to boot from this partition, the "happy" mac face appears, the screen blinks (kind of flickers with a checker-board looking pattern), then (I guess) decides it can't boot from that partition (i.e., the restored System 6), and moves on to the next partition. I can still boot from the remaining two partitions. And after booting, the restored System 6 partition is completely accessible (i.e., it mounts just fine - so I think the partition itself is okay). I've restored my Finder and System file from backup, but I still can't boot from that partition. Has anyone seen these sorts of problems and know what can be done (short of *completely* restoring my partition from backup) to fix it?
