That's easy -- it's the old "third party opportunity" syndrome that makes Apple do dumb things so others can make some money too. (Where's Apple e-mail? Video cards for the SE/30? There are always more...) I've been looking at the specs for how things are layed out on SCSI drives and I wonder if it isn't possible to make things work. The worst part is I suppose I have to write my own SCSI driver, which isn't exactly straightforward. Long live third parties!
