I finally solved the problem of bash loosing its standard output
after redirecting a loop.  It turned out it affected all builtins
and was caused by a missing F_GETFD command for fcntl.  Once I
got rid of all fcntl with F_GETFD (I assumed none were close on exec)
bash appears to work fine.  I'll post the diffs if no other bugs
crop up in the next couple of days.
