I've just found what appears to be a bug in the curses library.
After calling initscr, the stdscr structure should be fully
initialised, including having _y point to a valid screen
buffer. Instead, _y is nil (makes it kind of hard to peer
into the screen buffer).
 
Has anyone else found this?? Does anyone know if it's fixed in
3005+ (we're currently running 3003)
