With this interest in mind I think that doing programming projects in C or C++ using unix utilities and functions and some low level features provided by unix in the project would be very helpful in seeing how unix works and getting a feeling of having done something on unix. I have taken a course on computer networking and did a programming lab on "Implementing a sliding window protocol between three nodes on SUN/OS".This lab gave a good idea of socket operation and features like multiprogramming (forking etc.). I want to do some more projects (just as we do term/semester projects) but am not getting good ideas. Can anybody on the net give some ideas (name of the programming projects) or the projects they did during their education. I would appreciate if you could kindly send me email. thanks.
