For deer season, I use a Ruger M77 chambered in 7mm Rem mag. Bluntly put, initial scope sight-in was a b_t_h, er, severely painful incident. (Never fire forty 7mag rounds w/o a recoil pad.) Anyway, on my next sojourn to the range, I asked if they had any recoil pads available. The 'smith/clerk showed me the Past shoulder pad and proved the pad worked by letting me strap it on and try it. WORLDS OF DIFFERENCE! The felt recoil no longer has the sudden snap and the concussion is spread over the area of the pad. It has lasted me three years and is still showing no signs of unraveling at any of the seams. Past also makes a shooting jacket from what I have heard. For me, though, the pad under a winter jacket works just fine. Hope this helps some people, Greg Hayes
