O-levels ("Ordinary Level General Certificate of Education", I think) were high school exams taken round about the age of 16 (17?). They were the first level of school qualifications (I say "were" cos they've been superceded now). If you're *really* clever, you then do A-level exams when you're 18. I think 10 is the absolute max number of subjects you can do in one year.
