Brinkema) Newsgroups: comp.benchmarks Subject: RTE vs 'batch' benchmarks Summary: How differernt *are* they? Keywords: RTE, batch Message-ID: <443@fjcp60.GOV> Date: 24 Jun 91 14:57:40 GMT Article-I.D.: fjcp60.443 Distribution: all Organization: Federal Judicial Center, Washington, D.C. Lines: 8 It is generally conceded that RTE (remote terminal emulators) are superior to 'batch' benchmarks (eg. scripts that are read from standard-in on the same machine that is running the benchmark): RTEs don't load the system down with testing overhead. Does anyone have any experience, numbers, rules of thumb that indicate *how different* RTE results are from batch? Are we talking about small percents or order of magnitude differences? tnx. jb.
