I'm afraid I've missed out on this group for some time, and just got back.

This rather lengthy document sounds just like my suggestion last month
for putting a wrapper round compression algorithms with a blocked
interface - the blocking allowing fast seeking to random points within
a compressed file.

The basic idea is fine but do we need 500+ lines of pretentious twaddle
to describle it?
