I am looking for animation software under X.

I want to know X performances, to compare with SiliconGraphics.

On Silicon, there is a tool named MOVIE that can animate Silicon pictures.
The files have a RGB extension. They can be created bye ICUT, SNAPSHOT, or
SCRSAVE and displayed with IPASTE. 

I developped a tool that can convert images from PPM to RGB and RGB to PPM.
So I can animate RLE, PPM, TIFF, GIF pictures on Silicon with MOVIE. And I
would like to compare with X.
