You must have seen old stuff. And of course they weren't double-buffered. As you know, Amiga anims would also look bad if _they_ weren't. New methods allow buffering on common VGA cards now. (BTW, Berserk is fairly unusual for an Amiga anim, because it has around 16K of delta data per frame... most Amiga anims average only 5K per frame. And a good deal of that is RLE commands, _not_ pixel data. Even an IBM can move that 2-8K of data per frame into a VGA card :-) The PC anims I've seen which WERE jerky usually had 20-30K of deltas/frame, or used an old VGA card. In any case, you really should view some better PC animations (the raytraced ones are terrific!) C'mon down here, and you can watch a friend play any Amiga anim you wish on his VGA. Sure, Berserk. And Walker demos, too! However, he can't play sound at the same time yet. Or you can view Amiga anims on my brand "X" 68K machine, and Autocad anims too... with sound. Almost any machine can play anims... the more important thing is good tools to _create_ them with. regards - kev
