After talking to technical types at HP's PC division it was confirmed that this memory is REQUIRED for the card to work with Windows. My memory was purchased "off the shelf" at a local electronics store and cost < $50. While I don't remember specifics, I think that I filled half of the available DRAM slots based on the specifications in the manual.
