I have a clone 286 with a 40 mb hard disk (MFM) partitioned under Dos 3.3. I need more space and am contemplating getting an extra drive c.100 Mb. The cheapest drives advertised are all IDE (mostly seagate in the mags, but I note all the earlier discussion) and one possibility would be simply to replace my existing drive with a new IDE. But I also have a CdRom drive attached, running off a NEC T128 SCSI controller (8 bit thing). It might make more sense to attach a SCSI drive to that: the CDRom drive is external but there are internal connections. But would I run into problems with the drivers I would need, or conflicts with the CDRom? (As you can see, I'm not very technically aware). Any advice, including specifics on drives etc welcome.
