This happened to us over file-sharing--I don't know if it happens otherwise. It's such a silly thing, but unless the name of the folder in back is longer than the name of the folder in front of it, you'll never find it. Now when a folder seems to disappear on me, I hit "Clean Up Desktop," and voila! This is a very annoying bug, to say the least. Charlie.
