I am looking for a utility for the Mac that would allow me to
change the file header to manually associate a file with a
given application.  Essentially, I am looking to forge a file
header, so that rather than being a generic "document", the
file can be a "MacSurf 4.91 document".

I am hoping to find a public domain program, but I would also
appreciate reviews of available commercial programs, along
with what other functions they may have.

(Any help on how to accomplish my task in any way would be
appreciated)
