I guess you will purchase Dynix V3 because you are belong to university. Dynix V3 is based on BSD, and Dynix/ptx is based on ATT System V R3.2. Dynix V3 has two universe which are ATT universe and UCB universe. You can traverse UCB universe and ATT universe at login time or by ucb and att command after you login.
