Well, this simplest route I have seen (and use a variant of myself to print to VAX printers) is to create a new network lp printer which does nothing but invoke lpr. This seems to work very well. It can be a little trickey to support all the lpr command line flags (this can be done with a small simple FORMS program which is invoked as part of the process or by limiting those options). It just seems cleaner from a user's point of view to print to a special lp printer which automatically invokes lpr. Just a thought... -- rjf.
