Our company has an application which generates PCL output files.  I'd like
to allow the user to send the PCL file to a printer without requiring a
shell command (ie from within the application).  The PCL file contains
raster graphics, thus requiring full 8 bit communication.  What do I do
to enable correct communication with the PCL printer?  Do I need to supply
a filter?  I know this is a novice-level question so please reply via 
e-mail.

I'm working on SunOS 3.5 and 4.1.
