Keywords: windows deskjet fonts Message-ID: <17157@helios.TAMU.EDU> Date: 11 Jun 91 22:40:33 GMT Expires: 25 Jun 91 05:00:00 GMT Sender: usenet@helios.TAMU.EDU Distribution: usa Organization: Computer Science Department, Texas A&M University Lines: 26 HP claims that the CG Times fonts are "built in" to the DJ-500. However, I am getting much slower performance using the built-in fonts than those in a plug-in Times Roman cartridge. In fact, the 500 seems no faster than a plain DJ+ using the soft fonts from the same driver. Definitely slower than Superprint with Nimbus Roman (>2ppm) on a DJ+. Configuration: 386DX-20, 2Mb Win3.00A Winword 1.1A DeskJet 500 Scalable Driver (Set for 500, not + -- I checked) CGTimes 12pt text -- no graphics Prints app. 1ppm. Is there another, perhaps DJ500-specific driver, that supports the built-in fonts more effectively ? Please e-mail replies if possible.
