My '94 in .44 Magnum was probably the most hard-kicking gun I owned, more so even than my .375 H&H Mag., or my little .308 carbine. The thing either put big bruises on my shoulder or managed to relocate my thumb well up my nose... Now it's quite tame, though - the problem was that the stock was several inches too short for me. Addition of a large extender/recoil pad has reduced the need for blood transfusions when I fire it. The stock sights were also miserable, so I replaced them with a Lyman peep sight, which works quite well. Before this, the gun was off the paper at 25 yards. Quality control... -- Brian A.
