"New Aircraft Carrier Enters Service" {Note the Aircraft  Carrier designation}

Extract of Article:  The workers of the production association "Black Sea
Shipbuilding Plant" in Nikolayev have written a new page in the annals of
Soviet Shipbuilding.  They have delivered the aircraft carrier "Admiral Flota
Sovetskogo Soyuza Kuznetsov" to the Northern Fleet.  The ship is equipped with
modern navigation and radar devices and combat technology.  It can carry
fighters on board.
  "Our carrier completely meets the requirememnts of Soviet military defense
  doctrine,"said Captain the First Rank V. S. Yarygin, the ship's commander.
  "Its basic purpose is the protection of Soviet ships in remote areas of the
  ocean, beyond the range of land-based aircraft."
