(since I have one phone line at home, I can not send the fax >image over the telephone system) I have a Murata fax machine, and an Abaton Interfax modem (with class 2 firmware). I found that I could send faxes from the Murata to my modem without using two phone lines by the following setup: The Murata has an RJ11 jack for the phone line from the wall, and an RJ11 jack for its own telephone handset. I did the reverse of what they said to do in the instructions: I plugged the telephone line cord into the "phone" jack, and then wired the faxmodem and the handset to the "line" jack, through a splitter. This enabled me to convince the fax machine to start sending (it needs a dial tone to convince it to begin the t30 handshake). When the faxmodem answers, the internal circuits automatically cut out the "phone" jack, i.e., in my case the phone line, and leave the fax machine talking to the modem. Btw, there is a tar file of a copy of the draft Class 2 modem spec which someone faxed in as a bunch of 1-d huffman g3 format files, available from anonymous FTP from tr.ai.mit.edu in /pub/class2man.tar
