Has someone written a re-definition of
  
    dired-compress  and  dired-uncompress

so that these commands work on subdirectories?
 I am aware that a number of talented people have written entire new
versions of dired --I am merely looking for a "drop in" replacement for
these two functions.		 Thank you.
