I dunno if its a malicious >rumour :-) We were at Sony yesterday to discuss the 6000, and this is the final word on 5000 versus 6000: 5000 = the US version (NTSC) 6000 = the European version (PAL) So, the 5000 and the 6000 are the same machine. Sony just wanted the model number to reflect directly if it is a PAL or NTSC machine, just to avoid confusion. Well, THAT didn't exactly work, did it now :-) Rick
