Some people get very nervous when ATM }machines eat their cards (will it really give it back at the end??). ... I was told this was the main reason Citibank went with the dip reader technology. Also remember, Citibank pioneered ATM technology in the United States. When they designed their first machines mag stripe cards weren't all that common, ATMs were practically unheard of, and they decided to go with a different, proprietary and (in our opinion) superior card technology. Times have changed.
