I have been interested in the keyboard discussions going on, but missed some of the postings, so I don't know if this has been discussed before: I think that it would be much easier to "break" the keyboard apart and put the keypad between the positions for the hands. This would separate the hands to a more comfortable position and leave the keypad and cursor keys in the middle where either hand could be used. Does anyone else like this idea? There are certain problems, but I think that it would be workable. Did anyone else see the One-Handed keyboard at SIGCHI '91? I thought it had some real promise, too.
