Hi. I need a routine that extracts the <user> portion of an 
address, e.g.

	f( ucbvax!jdoe@bbn.com ) = jdoe

I'm sure someone has already written this but I don't know
where to look .. any ideas where I might be able to get a hold
of such a routine so that I don't end up having to reinvent the
wheel? Thanx in advance.
