Message-ID: <31982@hydra.gatech.EDU> Date: 28 Jun 91 21:39:54 GMT Organization: Georgia Institute of Technology Lines: 27 We're running ~12 IBM 55sx's with 16/4 Mb token ring cards w/ FTP Software's PC/TCP for token ring. The cards are set for 16 Mb. The only unix machine on the net is an IBM RS/6000. The net is independent - no gateways, bridges, etc. ping reports 25 ms consistently from pc -> pc, pc -> rs6k, varies between a low of 4 & a high of 80 ms for rs6k -> pc. ftp runs at 50 Kbytes/sec for all combinations - pc -> pc, pc -> rs6k, rs6k -> pc. Now, it's possible I'm wrong, but these numbers seem a triffle (8-)) on the slow side.... Is there anyone else out there w/ a similar setup? What kind of times are you getting? Any suggestions? Even a little bit of pc/tcp or netbios source code would be appreciated - I'd like to eliminate ftp as a factor. thanks, horkan -- G. Horkan Smith I'm an ICS major.
