Moving a solid icon over another, this is the info one has to determine where to let go of the mouse button: 1. One saw the target icon before dragging the solid icon over it. 2. One can see the mouse pointer. Isn't that enough? My point is you don't need to know, to the exact pixel position, the location of things in this operation.
