The door you are looking at is a Portal to a teleport room. You will need to 
find various stone magical items to activate them. The first one that you find
is a stone dagger (I believe it is on level 2) other items are necklace, wand,
ring, orb, jewel, etc. They will allow you to progress to different areas of 
the game....
